I'm British for goodness sake, of course I can talk about the weather, a day absolutely NEVER goes by when I don't! As to whether it affects what projects I choose to knit is another question.
As I have spent most of the last 3 years since I returned to knitting, producing gifts for others, I could easily be knitting hats, scarves, mitts and blankets in the spring/summer ready to be gifted later in the year. However this year that is going to start to change. There are a few close family and friends that I love to knit for and will continue to do so, BUT I am going to knit for myself too. Consequently I will need to plan when I knit a project so I will actually be able to wear it when I'm done. In some ways its good that I'm one of those people who's always chilly, as a cardi is a permanent fixture in my life.
There was a period of about 2 weeks last summer when it was reaching the too hot for knitting point, you know, when your hands are getting sticky and it all starts getting a tad irritating. So in some ways I'm very lucky with our climate here as I can choose to knit what I wish, when I wish.
Wee hee, and I can assure you that is just what I do :)
I'm usually cold too, so I knit for warmth. It's nice to be able to knit in all seasons! In the summers when it gets to be a little hot for knitting, I usually work on socks or other little projects that won't drape across me and add to the heat.
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean. Actually its lovely when you're knitting something big in the evenings when it cools down, as it keeps your knees all cosy!
DeleteI always knit throws over the winter months then I can be wrapped up whilst knitting
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely Sue, its just a shame when you have to get up and move!
